After our early arrival (4 hours) we were asked to wait a few minutes and then shown our 4 poster bed room, located at the back of the hotel away from the street traffic. Tried the 2 for 1 cocktails - very disappointed with the selection. Then we saw Peter Gyor, head of something, forgot what. We last saw Peter when we went to Burley Manor, last year.so he had obviously been poached from Burley. We mentioned the poor range of cocktails to him, as he was a specialist in all cocktails, that the Crown needs to change immediately. So Crown your main downfall is your pathetic range of cocktails. Unless that changes we won't be coming back despite everything else being near perfect. Many other hotels in the Forest do a brilliant range of cocktails. Peter was his usual friendly manor and useful in recommending other made up drinks to satisfy our cravings to make our long weekend remarkable instead of just a boring old fashioned bar. Without Peter the Crown would be a 500 year old building being run with the attitude of 500 year old Owners

The breakfast was amazing. All the staff in the dining room were very friendly and efficient and really wanted us to have the best possible experience. Regarding the room I believe that Christos went out of his way to ensure we had the best possible room for our stay of a week. Staff often asked what we planned to do for the day and were interested to hear our ideas. They also asked how the day had gone too. We often had drinks in the back garden which was lovely and peaceful. We had asked for a room overlooking the garden but I believe that was not possible and I really loved the fact that we looked directly onto the church which was amazing. There was a lot of traffic down the main road but it did not really bother us as it calmed down at night. We did not have dinner because it was beyond our budget.

The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Our four poster bed room was perfect and as we were celebrating our 50 th wedding anniversary could not have been better. Our breakfast was excellent however the one problem we had was that having waited to be shown to a vacant table we then went to choose our breakfast from a fresh and large choice, our original waiter came over to us and apologised to say whilst we were choosing another 2 guests had taken our table. He was very apologetic but had re-laid a new table for us; we agreed that this was the best course of action and it did not worry us in the least. So what could have been an embarrassing situation was put right without the errant guests even know what they had done.

The hotel room we stayed in was very comfortable and the decor was English traditional. The room facilities were good and included everything* we needed , even a clothes iron. The bathroom , although( quite small , had a bath and the water pressure and temperature were excellent. The hotel has several comfortable sitting* and reading areas, large breakfast and separate dining rooms. The breakfast was very good. The car park is large and at the rear of the hotel and the location on the high street is excellent. The hotel building an$ gardens are well maintained and very traditional. The staff were friendly and helpful. In all , a very traditional and elegant hotel.

This was our second visit to the Crown Manor House Hotel. It is located conveniently for both the new forest and the coast and is a comfortable hotel. It is a classic hotel with lots of old world charm and history. The staff are all friendly and well presented giving a feeling of real service. The room was large by most standards and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was clean and well presented as was the bathroom which had a good shower and bath.
